My son did that for a while, I think it was a general imitation of movies and conversations he was observing. After probably 8 weeks of speech therapy, 2 times a week, something finally ‘clicked” and he figured out that we wanted him to imitate better. Right now, my son is 3 1/2 and says? a TON of words, but no real conversation yet. They feel he will be mainstreamed. Fingers crossed. Your son is beautiful, its amazing how physically beautiful so many autistic children are….

It does get better -? he reminds me of my daughter at that age. She still struggles with communication at 4 1/2 but is coping in mainstream school with lots of support. One small mountain climbed, loads to go.

i know ive watched this and commented on this before, but its come? up again so here i am. he is so cute and i just cant get over how much he reminds me of my 3 year old son with his looks and his silly cute jargon babytalk.we now have a word in between every little bit of jargon so if we pay attention it starts to make a little bit of sense but still very delayed for his age.

Please update with a new video. My son was diagnosed at 26 months and has a ton of jargon like this, he is almost 3.5. He uses 100′s of words now but still has a great deal of jargon and is attending ESE pre-k. As you know the future is so uncertain for these children, it helps to know what kind of progress? these kids with this type of diagnosis are making. Thank you!

My son just turned 3 and has been dx with PDD-NOS for 5 months. It’s very new to? us, but when he was dx he didn’t ‘speak’ nas much as your son. Now, after group therapy 2x wk, pre k 1x wk and E.I. for a year… he is talking more and more. But the best part is that he is now communicating his needs and wants to us, by shaking his head yes or no when asked a question. My son has no other health issues and was a ‘normal’, healthy term baby. Just know that you and your precious child are not alone!

I just want to know what the rush is nowadays for kids to be the same as everyone else their age – if they talk at 2,3 or even 5 – really, the only people who it “bother” are usually interferring people with nothing better to do! I think your son is beautiful… he will probably grow up to be an absolute genius (probably already is)… thanks for sharing your sunshine with us? :-)

Do a favor for all of us parents? of autism…. EDUCATE URSELF OR CRAWL BACK INTO THE HOLE FROME WHENCE U CAME. the world would be betta off!

My son has autism and is now 4 years old. At 3 years old, he sounded quite a bit like this! He? his verbal these days, but still has issues with expressive language and sensory processing. My wife and I invented a little iPhone/iPod app to help him out. It’s called “iPrompts” — Google it if you’re curious. We use it to show him visual schedules, timers and choices. It works pretty darn well for us! Good luck with your son!

I have PDD-NOS too but i knew words before i was 1? year old and my parrents teached me how to read before i was 5. Everyones different. Was there something that your child could do before other kids? Like building towers with blocks? :D I was always building towers and then I’d make them collapse and rebuild them :)
